Very strong in cross-country 2002/2003, somewhat weaker shooting
Bronze mass start 2003 world championship, 7th on 20k
Lead overall world cup at end of 2002, yet ended in 4th 2002/2003, Bjoerndalen won
Placed 21st in Norwegian 2002 cross-country opener 2002, close to one minute behind Bjoerndalen and Andresen on 10k skate. Later won sprint and pursuit in biathlon at Geilo.

Wife Liv Grete got first child in January 2003

Won the 2001/2002 overall world cup for the 3rd time in a row
