The biker version of the Norwegian Birkebeiner was held this weekend. Skiers and biathletes were notably absent from the 10 000+ participants event. The Norwegian cross country chose to go to high altitude training instead.

Frode Andresen, world champion in biathlon from 2000 and third in the overall world cup last year, only managed 21st in the men's class.

Andresen is just back from training camp in Bulgaria.

The 58k Birkebeiner, won by Erling Jevne 7 times, will be the world cup final for cross country 2002.
